Rishikesh

Rishikesh is famous as the place of convergence of pilgrim destinations, yoga and meditation centers and picturesque environments. Located in Dehradun district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, it is the holy city of Hindus. Known as the gateway to the Himalayas, it is located near another pilgrimage destination-Haridwar and is also the starting point of pigrimage to the famous Char Dham - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The holy river Ganga leaves the shivalik mountain range from here and flows into the plains of northern India. Of late, Rishikesh has gained popularity due to the numerous Yoga and Meditation centers located within its natural surroundings. Tourists from all over the world come here to learn the ancient Indian arts of yoga. Not to be left behind in adventure tourism either, the place is very popular amongst adventure enthusiasts for white water rafting facilities in the rough rapids of river Ganges.

How to Reach Ranthambore National Park :-
By Air :- The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant in Dehradun, the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand about 35 km from Rishikesh.

By Train :- Rishikesh is connected to all major cities of the country through an extensive network of Roads including Haridwar, Agra, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi and Nainital.

By Road :- The nearest railway station is Haridwar, from where flights to other major Airports may be taken.

MUST VISITS :-
Triveni Ghat :- A dip in the holy Ganges is said to purify ones soul. Triveni ghat is the main ghat in the town area where most of the pilgrims take holy dip. Also witness the Arti ceremony in the evening.

Geeta Bhawan :- A fine example of artistic works, the famous Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharata are described in the walls of this famous temple along with carved depiction of various incidents.

Laxman Jhoola :- Believed to be the place where Laxman observed penance for having killed a Brahmin, there initially used to be just a rope hanging across the river Ganges, and is now rebuilt into a beautiful suspended bridge. Arguably the most popular place in Rishikesh..
